29 Years of age what are my options?
I want to join the Marines Reserves as that is my only option at my age from my research that I have done. I have no criminal history no drug use but I have heard that it is a lot more difficult to join due to the fact that they are downsizing the ranks any feedback is appreciated thanks in advance.-John

Your best bet is to talk to a recruiter. They are briefed on any new developments with joining.

don't do it, being older and in the military sucks unless you're up there in the ranks... i couldn't imagine being a 29 year old pfc
but it's your call, that's just my opinion

As a low ranking Marine you are instantly generalized as an incompetent moron by highers who do not know you. The average guy enlisting is 18 or so. Some have joined with their parents still making their beds. So just have the mentality that this is normal and let it roll of your shoulder. It can't be a reason to not join if it is what you want.
I do believe you can still go active if a waiver is granted. However like mentioned recruiters know better and that would be your best option at finding out.

I enlisted in the Reserves at 27. It hasn't been too bad so far. But then again I'm still in MOS school. Us older guys are definately held to a higher standard.
